VFR NIGHT RATING QUALIFICATION FOR ULTRALIGHT AIRCRAFT (ULO) PILOTS

 

VFR night rating qualification entitles ultralight aircraft (ULO) pilots to operate night flights under visual flight rules (VFR). This qualification is an additional entry on the pilot’s licence.

• You can register for training individually, there is no need to join a training group.
• We conduct training in two languages ​​- Lithuanian and English, so participants can choose the language they want.

Requirements to start training:
• Valid ULO RAL class AA qualification license;
• 200 hours or more of flight experience in RAL class aircraft.

* Holders of valid PPL, CPL, ATPL and Military aviation specialist licenses with a valid night rating qualification, and a valid ULO RAL class license ,and a valid VFR flights in controlled airspace qualification can acquire the “VFR night rating for ULO pilots” qualification after completing a training flight of at least 1 hour with an instructor, with these qualifications, and received an entry in the pilot’s logbook.

The training program consists of two stages:
• Theoretical training – 2 hours.
• Practical training – 9,5 flight hours + 1,5 hours skill test.

Theoretical training stage
Theoretical training covers the essential information required to operate an aircraft safely at night under visual flight rules (VFR). The training ensures that pilots understand the specifics and challenges of night flying and how to effectively overcome them.

Practical training stage
Practical training consists of a minimum of 9,5 hours of flight training, of which 6,5 hours during night time, and includes:
• Flights according instruments during day and night;
• Traffic circuit flights at the aerodrome / airport;
• Cross-country flights;
• Emergency situations and procedures.

Practical training is carried out with aircraft Aeroprakt A-22LS.

After the training, practical exam (skill test) is conducted at our training center, which is held with a pre-assigned examiner.

The permission to perform VFR flights during night time can be renewed if the pilot in the last 6 months took off and landed at least 3 times during the night.
