VFR FLIGHTS IN CONTROLLED AIRSPACE QUALIFICATION
FOR ULTRALIGHT AIRCRAFT PILOTS
The qualification of visual flights in controlled airspace gives ultralight aircraft (ULO) pilots the right to conduct flights in controlled airspace (CTR, TMA, etc.) under VFR, subject to additional requirements and procedures. This qualification is an additional entry in the pilot’s logbook.
• You can register for training individually, there is no need to join a training group.
• We conduct training in two languages - Lithuanian and English, so participants can choose the language they want.
Requirements to start training:
• ULO pilot’s valid license RAL class AA qualification;
• To have completed radio communication aviation phraseology courses in Lithuanian (or higher level courses in English).
* Holders of a valid PPL license with a valid ULO RAL class license can obtain the qualification “Visual flights in controlled airspace” after passing a practical skill test.
** Holders of valid CPL, ATPL licenses with a valid ULO RAL class license can obtain the qualification “Visual flights in controlled airspace” by completing an application and submitting a valid license. The qualification entry in the pilot’s logbook is made by an RA class instructor who has the qualification “Visual flights in controlled airspace”.
The training program consists of two stages:
• Theoretical training – 6 hours.
• Practical training – 6 flight hours + 2 hours skill test.
Theoretical training stage
Theoretical training covers the essential information required to fly safely in controlled airspace under visual flight rules (VFR). The training ensures that pilots understand the specifics, additional requirements and regulations of flying in controlled airspace.
Practical training stage
Practical training consists of a minimum of 6 hours of flight training and includes:
• Performing additional procedures and tasks, e.g. completing the ATC flight plan;
• Conducting radio communication in controlled airspace;
• Traffic circuit and cross-country flights in controlled airspace;
• Landings in controlled airspace at an aerodrome / airport.
Practical training is carried out with aircraft Aeroprakt A-22LS.
After the training, practical exam (skill test) is conducted at our training center, which is held with a pre-assigned examiner.
